Brother Industries begins drum unit recycling in Slovakia
Brother Industries has launched a recycling program for used drum units at its production facility, Brother Industries (Slovakia), as of July 2026. The initiative aims to restore used drum units for laser printers and multi-function devices to a quality equivalent to new products through cleaning, component replacement, and rigorous quality inspections.
This expansion builds upon the company’s long-standing toner cartridge recycling program, which has been active since 2004. By integrating the collection, recycling, and redistribution processes within its own group, Brother Industries seeks to further reduce waste and support a circular economy. The company has already recycled over 45 million toner cartridges globally as of March 2026 and holds the German Blue Angel environmental certification.
The move aligns with the ‘Brother Group Environmental Vision 2050,’ which targets the maximization of resource circulation and the minimization of environmental impact. A key mid-term goal is to reduce the amount of new resources used in products by 25% by fiscal year 2030 compared to 2022 levels.
