Brouwersdam to host view of partial solar eclipse

A partial solar eclipse will be visible from the Brouwersdam on Goeree-Overflakkee on Wednesday, August 12. According to amateur astronomer Peter Jelier, the phenomenon will occur between 19:16 and 21:03, reaching a maximum coverage of approximately 88 percent of the sun at around 20:11.

Jelier notes that the Brouwersdam offers an ideal vantage point due to the unobstructed views over the dike as the sun sets in the west. The eclipse coincides with the annual appearance of the Perseid meteor shower, which typically occurs on the night of August 12 to 13.
