BRT Salvador wins national urban mobility award
The BRT Salvador system has received the 2026 Plínio Assmann Award for Best Practices in Urban Mobility. Awarded by the National Association of Public Transport (ANTP), the initiative won in the Motorized Mobility category, which evaluates infrastructure, operation, technology, and public transport efficiency.
The award recognition was based on the system's ability to reduce passenger travel times, providing faster and more efficient collective transport in the capital of Bahia. Salvador was highlighted alongside São Paulo and Goiânia in this category. Currently, the BRT Salvador serves more than 2 million passengers per month.
Pablo Souza, the Secretary of Mobility for Salvador, stated that the award validates investments aimed at improving public transport and making travel more efficient for users, noting that the implemented solutions could serve as a reference for other Brazilian cities.
