BRT Sul implements organized priority queues in Gama and Santa Maria

The BRT Sul operation, managed by the company Pioneira, has implemented a new system of priority boarding queues separated by bus line in the Gama and Santa Maria regions. The initiative aims to improve safety, organization, and predictability for passengers entitled to priority access by law.

Priority boarding is reserved for people with disabilities, those with reduced mobility, seniors aged 65 or older, pregnant or lactating women, and passengers carrying children. To assist with the transition, a “Posso Ajudar” (Can I Help) team is available to guide users and assist wheelchair users to the boarding points.

The system began as a pilot project in Santa Maria on August 4 and was permanently adopted in Gama on August 24 following positive evaluations. In Santa Maria, the priority boarding serves approximately 2,700 passengers per business day, while Gama sees about 1,100 daily accesses. The operator reports that user adaptation has been smooth, with no official complaints recorded since implementation.
