Bruce Blakeman campaign faces scrutiny over finance filings

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman is facing scrutiny over his campaign finance filings in New York. An analysis by New York Focus indicates the campaign requested public matching funds for more than 2,600 donations that appeared to be ineligible, a move that could potentially grant the campaign over $860,000 in taxpayer-funded money.

Additionally, a Newsday analysis found thousands of transactions that were double- or triple-reported in Blakeman’s filings. These possible duplicate contributions, which total approximately $460,000, involve individual donors listed as making the same contribution multiple times on the same day. These discrepancies raise questions regarding the actual amount of money raised and the current balance of the Blakeman campaign as he competes against Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul.
