Bruce Blakeman campaigns in Queens with new namesake deli sandwich

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman visited Mario’s Meats & Gourmet Deli in Flushing, Queens, where the establishment unveiled a new sandwich named ‘The Blakeman’ in his honor. The turkey sandwich is currently priced at $15, but Blakeman used the event to campaign on reducing the cost of living, promising that if elected, he would work to make such items more affordable.

Blakeman’s campaign highlighted the rising operational costs facing small businesses compared to five years ago. Deli owner Joe Digangi noted that high energy bills, specifically for electricity and gas required to run refrigerators and air conditioning, have significantly impacted profit margins. Digangi expressed support for Blakeman’s focus on reducing energy costs to assist local businesses.
