Bruce Campbell retires from playing Ash Williams in Evil Dead

Actor Bruce Campbell has officially confirmed his retirement from playing the iconic character Ash Williams in the ‘Evil Dead’ franchise. While Campbell ceased physically playing the role following the conclusion of the Starz series ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ in 2018, he clarified on social media that he is also retiring from any future voiceover work for the character.

Campbell cited a combination of declining physical abilities and shifting creative interests as the primary reasons for his decision. He stated, “I didn’t want Ash to be compromised by declining skills,” and noted that his interests have since diverged. Although the character will not appear in future installments, Campbell and director Sam Raimi will remain involved in the franchise as producers.
