Bruce Dickinson joins Billie Joe Armstrong on stage at San Diego Comic‑Con

On July 23, 2026, a surprise guest appearance by Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson took place at a Fandom and Z2 Comics party ahead of San Diego Comic‑Con. Dickinson joined The Coverups, the cover band led by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, to perform David Bowie’s “All The Young Dudes,” a song he previously recorded on his 1990 solo album Tattooed Millionaire. The set, part of a 26‑song show, also featured covers ranging from Cheap Trick to Nirvana.

The event highlighted Z2 Comics’ music‑partnership model, showcasing more than 100 musician collaborations and promoting the upcoming graphic‑novel tie‑in The Mandrake Project: Year Two, a sequel to Dickinson’s comic series with Z2. The surprise performance was livestreamed by fans and received wide coverage in music and pop‑culture outlets.
