A59 motorway fatal accident involving farmer protest traffic

A 34-year-old woman from Nistelrode has been detained following a fatal accident on the A59 motorway. The incident occurred during a traffic jam caused by farmers protesting with tractors en route to Den Bosch.

Two individuals in their seventies from Oss lost their lives when the woman’s SUV collided with the rear of their vehicle. Six other people were injured in the crash, which involved four cars in total. The protest was organized to oppose the provincial government's plan to revoke permits for five poultry farms.

Police have released the driver for questioning, though the exact circumstances of the collision remain under investigation. The daughter of the deceased couple stated that her parents were on their weekly shopping trip and held the driver responsible for driving into the stationary traffic.
