Bruges hosts Bosch festival featuring Iranian artists
The city of Bruges is hosting the ‘Bosch in Brugge’ art festival to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of the renowned Dutch master painter Hieronymus Bosch. The festival involves various institutions, including the Concertgebouw, Cultuurcentrum Brugge, and Municipal Museums.
As part of the celebrations, Iranian contemporary artists Barbad Golshiri and Shahryar Hatami have been commissioned for solo exhibitions. Hatami will present ‘The Esthete Against Aesthetics’ at De Bond, featuring a three-dimensional rendering of ‘Cure of Folly’ using glass, iron, and brass. Golshiri will present a video installation titled ‘Masturpiece (A Passion Play)’ at the Poortersloge.
Additionally, the artistic legacy of Bosch continues to be explored through publications such as ‘Bosch in Detail’, which examines the intricate details of his famous works, including ‘The Haywain’ and ‘The Temptation of St. Anthony’, highlighting his influence on the surrealist movement.
