Brugherio man reported for burning construction waste

A 67-year-old man has been reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Monza after being caught burning various types of construction waste on his property in Brugherio, Italy.

Local police officers responded to smoke rising from a green area in via San Cristoforo, located within the Parco della Media Valle del Lambro, on the afternoon of August 17, 2026. Upon investigation, officers discovered the man intentionally setting fire to waste materials. Although the individual claimed to be a registered environmental manager authorized to handle waste collection and remediation, authorities noted that burning waste on private land is prohibited.

The fire department was called to extinguish the flames. Following the incident, police secured the area and placed a criminal seizure on the portion of the land where uncontrolled and special waste had been deposited. The incident occurred during a period of high heat and drought, raising concerns regarding the risk of forest fires in the Lombardy region.
