Brujo wins opening day of Regata Juan de la Cosa
The Grand Soleil 37 ‘Brujo’, directed by Federico Linares and Juan Luis Páez, secured victory on the opening day of the 32nd Regata Juan de la Cosa and the 55th Semana Náutica de El Puerto de Santa María. Competing in the Bay of Cádiz under moderate 10-knot winds, the vessel won the Trofeo Fundación Cajasol after a time correction, narrowly beating the Salona 37 ‘Sálvora’ by 23 seconds.
The podium was completed by the BH41 ‘Taboga IV’, helmed by Antonio Coronilla, finishing just one second behind ‘Sálvora’. All three top-ranking boats represent the Real Club Náutico de Cádiz. The inaugural day featured upwind/downwind courses of 7 miles for larger vessels and 3.6 miles for smaller boats, with the fleet navigating the Guadalete River to reach the docks of the Real Club Náutico de El Puerto de Santa María.
