Brukenthal Museum restores 11 Transylvanian princely portraits
Specialists from the Brukenthal National Museum in Sibiu are currently restoring 11 princely portraits belonging to the Batthyaneum Library in Alba Iulia. The project, initiated and funded by the Principality of Transylvania Palace Cultural Center, aims to preserve these historical depictions of Transylvanian rulers.
Using specialized techniques and fine instruments, restorers are researching, consolidating, and treating each canvas to recover their original imagery while respecting historical traces. Once completed, the portraits are intended for display in the future Gallery of the Princes of Transylvania in Alba Iulia, helping to present the history of Transylvania in its former center of power.
