Bruna Siviglia, founder of Biesse Association, passes away
Bruna Siviglia, the founder and president of the Biesse Association, has passed away, prompting widespread condolences from political and social leaders in Calabria. Siviglia was a prominent figure in Reggio Calabria, recognized for her extensive work in social activism, legality, and supporting vulnerable populations.
Salvatore Cirillo, President of the Calabria Regional Council, described her passing as a profound loss to the region's social and civil fabric. He highlighted her significant contributions to anti-mafia education, specifically noting the “Giustizia e Umanità Liberi di Scegliere” project. This initiative led to Calabria becoming the first Italian region to legally recognize a specific educational path aimed at countering mafia culture through regional law n. 27 of 2023.
In Reggio Calabria, Mayor Francesco Cannizzaro announced her death during a city council session, where members observed a minute of silence in her honor. Siviglia was noted for her ability to transform social ideas into concrete projects and for her lifelong commitment to civic growth and the protection of human rights.
