Brunei advances energy security through grid upgrades and oil market cooperation

Brunei is actively upgrading its electricity transmission and distribution systems to improve reliability and ensure continuous supply. Under the Twelfth National Development Plan, projects such as the 66-kilovolt Perdayan Project aim to enhance the national grid. To support these infrastructure upgrades and encourage energy responsibility, the government is proposing a progressive electricity tariff structure for the commercial sector, planned for implementation in 2028.

On the international stage, Brunei participated in the 41st OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting. Participating countries reaffirmed their commitment to a stable global oil market under the Declaration of Cooperation. The meeting confirmed that existing crude oil production levels will be maintained until the end of 2026. Additionally, members emphasized the importance of adhering to production conformity and completing assessments to establish 2027 production baselines.
