Brunei Minister urges travel agents to diversify tourism packages

Brunei’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, has urged local travel agents to diversify their offerings and embrace digital transformation.

During a Legislative Council session, the minister emphasized that agents must move beyond repetitive packages and government promotions. He advised investing in digital marketing and utilizing online travel agencies (OTAs) and local platforms like Explore Brunei and the Nakhoda Programme to reach modern travelers who book via digital channels.

To remain competitive, the minister suggested creating multi-day itineraries that combine nature, culture, gastronomy, and Islamic heritage. He also noted that implementing cashless payment systems is now a fundamental requirement for destination competitiveness.
