Académico de Viseu defeats Sporting CP 2-1 in Primeira Liga

Académico de Viseu secured a 2-1 victory against Sporting CP at the Estádio José Alvalade during the ninth round of the Primeira Liga. João Guilherme De Souza scored both goals for the visiting side, while Colombian striker Luis Suárez scored for Sporting CP, marking his 50th goal for the club and his tenth consecutive match with a goal.

Following the defeat, Sporting CP manager Rui Borges attributed the loss to team anxiety and a lack of clinical finishing, noting that the club is now nine points behind the league leaders. The result has intensified pressure on Borges, with some commentators and supporters questioning his future and the club's recent squad restructuring.

Académico de Viseu coach Bruno Pinheiro praised his team's defensive organization and tactical execution, stating that the win was deserved despite the difficulty of playing at Alvalade. He emphasized that while the victory is significant, the team's primary focus remains securing league maintenance.
