Bruno Barbieri reflects on personal hardships in new book
Chef and television personality Bruno Barbieri is sharing intimate details of his life in his new book, ‘Controluce’. Describing his journey as “complicated” and “very difficult,” Barbieri reflects on the personal challenges that shaped him, including a distant relationship with his father, with whom he reconciled only days before his death.
Barbieri credits the women in his family, particularly his mother, for providing stability during his childhood. He expressed the emotional difficulty of seeing his 93-year-old mother currently struggle with dementia. Beyond family matters, the chef discussed the professional hardships of the culinary industry and the sting of betrayals by individuals he refers to as “sharks”—people close to him who sought to exploit his success.
He intends for his story to serve as inspiration for young people facing adversity, emphasizing that despite the hardships, his life has ultimately made him happy.
