Bruno Cormerais removed from Belgian Baguette Awards jury

Baker Bruno Cormerais is facing professional repercussions following allegations of sexual harassment made by pastry chef Chiara Serpaggi. After being removed from the M6 program ‘La Meilleure Boulangerie de France’, the artisan has now been excluded from presiding over the inaugural Belgian Baguette Awards.

Organizers of the Bread Fest in Brussels announced the decision to cancel his appearance and strip him of his jury presidency to ‘preserve the serenity’ of the event. While the organizers did not comment on the validity of the accusations, they cited recent media reports as the reason for the change. The role of jury president will be filled by another ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’ at a later date.

Cormerais has firmly denied the allegations. In a public statement, he expressed that he ‘contests and denies with the utmost firmness’ the accusations brought against him.
