Olympique de Marseille faces major injury crisis with Cornelius and Gouiri

Olympique de Marseille is facing a significant injury crisis following the international break. Defender Derek Cornelius sustained a serious hip injury while training with the Canadian national team. The club has confirmed that the injury will lead to a long period of unavailability, with estimates suggesting he may be out for approximately three months.

Adding to the club's difficulties, forward Amine Gouiri was forced off during an Algeria match against Zambia due to a left quadriceps issue. While the exact duration of his absence is still being determined following medical examinations, his injury poses a major challenge for manager Bruno Genesio, especially given the team's current struggle in Ligue 1.

These setbacks occur as Marseille attempts to stabilize its season after a poor run of form. The squad is already dealing with limited depth due to previous financial restrictions on summer signings and other ongoing fitness concerns.
