Bruno Guimarães discusses emotional Newcastle United departure

Bruno Guimarães has opened up about the emotional difficulty of leaving Newcastle United to join Arsenal for a reported £75 million this past summer. In an interview with The Guardian, the 28-year-old Brazilian midfielder described the decision as a significant emotional burden that caused him and his family many sleepless nights.

Guimarães highlighted the deep connection he shared with the club, stating, “I never felt so loved like the way I was at Newcastle.” He noted that the farewell process was particularly painful, involving tears from both himself and his teammates, whom he described as a family. He expressed a desire to find similar support at Arsenal while acknowledging the necessity of seeking a new professional challenge.

The transfer occurred during a period of significant transition for Newcastle, which has seen the departure of several key players and management following their Carabao Cup success. Guimarães is set to return to St James' Park when Arsenal visits Newcastle on November 21.
