Bruno Souto resigns from Paraíba senate candidacy

Bruno Souto, a candidate for second substitute senator for the Unidade Popular (UP) party in Paraíba, has resigned from his candidacy. The decision follows the disclosure of an active civil arrest warrant issued by the 3rd Family Court of Campina Grande.

The warrant, signed by Judge Antonio Reginaldo Nunes, concerns unpaid child support exceeding R$ 48,000 and stipulates a three-month prison sentence. The warrant is valid until July 22, 2028.

In a statement, the Unidade Popular party confirmed it agrees with the resignation. Souto informed the party that a judicial process is currently underway to review support payments for adult children, with a hearing already scheduled. He also noted that, according to his consultations, no definitive decision regarding the warrant had been finalized and the order had not yet been sent for enforcement.
