Bruno Vespa clashes with student representative on Porta a Porta

During a broadcast of Rai 1’s Porta a Porta, journalist Bruno Vespa engaged in a heated exchange with Sabrina Brizzola, the 24-year-old coordinator of the Unione degli universitari. The confrontation began while discussing school dropout rates in Italy. Vespa urged young people to “document yourselves” and come prepared with statistics before speaking, suggesting that a lack of study leads to saying “nonsense.”

Brizzola countered by highlighting issues regarding the right to study, noting that Italy is the only European country that does not cover all university scholarships and that universities are being defunded.

The debate also included a teacher who described her experience mediating with protesting youth. Vespa dismissed her account of de-escalating student protests as a “missionary operation,” stating he did not agree with her perspective.
