Bruno Vespa undergoes emergency surgery after domestic accident

Italian journalist and television host Bruno Vespa has shared details regarding a serious domestic accident that required emergency surgery. Speaking at the Prix Italia event in L’Aquila, Vespa explained that the incident occurred while he was performing gymnastics at home. He stated that he stood up from a mat without proper support, causing him to slip and strike a sharp corner.

The accident resulted in injuries to his face, nose, shoulder, and humerus. Vespa underwent a five-hour surgical procedure at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, involving specialists from both orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery departments. Despite the severity of the injuries, he noted that an ophthalmological examination confirmed no damage to his eyes.

Vespa had previously appeared on his program, ‘Cinque Minuti’, with visible facial swelling and a bandaged arm while interviewing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During his recent comments, he also touched upon upcoming television appearances, including a potential visit from entertainer Rosario Fiorello.
