Bruno Vespa faces controversy over TV clash and X account suspension

Italian journalist Bruno Vespa is facing significant backlash following a televised confrontation on the program ‘Porta a Porta’ with Sabrina Brizzola, the national coordinator of the Unione degli Universitari (Udu). During the exchange, Vespa interrupted Brizzola, advising young people to “document themselves” and study more before speaking on political issues.

Brizzola responded via an official statement, rejecting Vespa’s “paternalism” and accusing the political class of leaving her generation without a future. The journalists' union, Usigrai, also criticized Vespa’s conduct, describing his behavior toward Brizzola as aggressive and paternalistic.

Adding to the controversy, Vespa’s official X (formerly Twitter) account was recently suspended. While initial reports suggested a violation of community rules, subsequent investigations by Fanpage indicate the account may have been hacked by an organization linked to a cryptocurrency site. The profile currently displays a different name and handle while retaining the original post history and cover image.
