Brunswick Complex wildfires face challenging conditions

The Brunswick Complex wildfires, consisting of the 61,618-hectare Ainslie Creek fire and the 8,818-hectare Brunswick Creek fire, are facing challenging conditions on Thursday, August 13, 2026. The BC Wildfire Service expects elevated fire behaviour, particularly at the Brunswick Creek site due to northerly winds.

Twelve evacuation orders and 17 evacuation alerts are currently in effect across the complex. Additionally, a 38-kilometre stretch of Highway 1 remains closed between Toll Road and Aspen Road due to the fires and ongoing hazards from rockfall, specifically near China Bar.

Crews are working on control lines south of the Brunswick Creek blaze and continue to patrol perimeters and address hotspots in areas including Boston Bar, North Bend, and Canyon Alpine.
