Brusciano begins preparations for 151st Festa dei Gigli

Preparations for the 151st Festa dei Gigli in honor of Sant’Antonio di Padova have commenced in Brusciano, Italy. The festivities involve the arrival and raising of large wooden obelisks, known as Gigli, which serve as the central structures for the traditional celebration.

In mid-August 2026, several committees began the process of transporting and erecting the wooden frameworks. This included the arrival of the Giglio Ortolano 1875 and the Giglio del Popolo. Rituals accompanying the raising of the structures, such as the lifting of the 'Borda' and the symbolic throwing of salt, were performed by various local groups and committees, including the Paranza Orgoglio Bruscianese and the Paranza Gioventù.

The construction of these obelisks is being managed by local artisans, including the Bottega d’Arte Pracetella and Bottega d’Arte Scognamiglio. The upcoming festival is scheduled to take place on August 30, 2026.
