Brush fire near Getty Center prompts evacuation warnings

A brush fire erupted Wednesday afternoon near the Getty Center and along the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. The fire, which burned approximately five acres, was reported around 4:30 p.m. and appeared to have ignited near the Getty Center parking lot.

The Los Angeles Fire Department issued evacuation warnings for areas bounded by Promontory Road to the north, Sunset Boulevard to the south, the 405 Freeway to the east, and Bundy Drive to the west. These warnings encompass the Getty Center and Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Firefighters utilized both ground crews and water-dropping helicopters to combat the flames. While smoke was visible rising from the area, officials reported that no structures were immediately threatened and no deaths or injuries had been confirmed as of late afternoon.
