Brussels fatal multi-vehicle collision involves drunk driver

A fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on Van Praetlaan near the A12 in Brussels on Thursday, August 13. The accident, which involved four vehicles, was triggered by a truck performing maneuvers near a construction site, causing traffic congestion.

Police investigations indicate that the driver responsible for the crash was under the influence of alcohol. Reports suggest the driver may have been traveling at nearly 100 km/h, double the permitted speed limit, before colliding with vehicles stuck in traffic. The driver has been taken into custody.

A victim who was transported to the hospital in critical condition passed away later that same day. The Brussels Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
