Brussels regional government continues budget negotiations
The Brussels regional government is engaged in intense budget negotiations aimed at limiting the regional deficit to 719 million euros. Despite lengthy discussions, several critical issues remain unresolved, including approximately 120 million euros in political choices that still require decisions.
A significant point of contention is the veto by MR president Georges-Louis Bouchez regarding 131 million euros intended for the recapitalization of the Société du logement de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale (SLRB). This veto is linked to the leadership of the Foyer anderlechtois, currently held by Lotfi Mostefa, who is facing judicial scrutiny. Without these funds, the SLRB faces potential financial difficulties.
Other areas of tension include mobility costs, specifically regarding Stib tariffs, and concerns over the transparency of the negotiation process. Critics have noted a lack of immediate access to necessary information for all partners. Additionally, there are questions regarding the clarity of planned savings in the public service and the impact of administrative simplifications on citizen services.
