Brussels terrorist attack suspects to face court

Three individuals are set to appear before a correctional court in connection with the October 2023 terrorist attack in Brussels that targeted Swedish football supporters. The suspects are accused of possessing and attempting to sell a converted alarm pistol used in the attack.

The shooting occurred near the King Baudouin Stadium shortly before a Belgium-Sweden match, resulting in the deaths of two Swedish supporters and leaving a third seriously injured. The perpetrator, Abdesalem Lassoued, was killed by police during a manhunt shortly after the incident.

Investigators identified several accomplices who allegedly assisted in the preparation of the attack. One suspect was apprehended at Malaga airport in Spain, while two others were detained in the Netherlands and Spain. While these three face charges related to weapons, two other individuals identified in the investigation have been referred to the Assize Court on charges including murder and participation in a terrorist group.
