Brvenica municipality to hold early mayoral election on 18 October

The Assembly speaker, Afriam Gashi, signed a decision to hold early elections for mayor of Brvenica Municipality on 18 October 2026, following the death of incumbent mayor Jovica Ilievski on 23 June at age 58. Gashi called on the State Election Commission, the municipal election commission and all officials to conduct the vote professionally, impartially and in full compliance with the law. He urged candidates to run on programs and ideas, and appealed to citizens to exercise their democratic right responsibly.

Interim mayor Robert Milosevski, the former council president, will oversee the municipality until the election outcome is confirmed.
