BRVM equity market capitalization hits record 20 trillion FCFA

The Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) reached a historic milestone on August 20, 2026, as its equity market capitalization surpassed 20,000 billion FCFA, specifically hitting 20,036.18 billion FCFA. This represents a 50.30% increase since January 1, 2026, when capitalization stood at 13,330.71 billion FCFA.

Since its inception on September 16, 1998, the market capitalization has grown 24-fold from its initial 836.19 billion FCFA. The market remains highly concentrated, with three sectors accounting for 90.06% of the total value: financial services (44.16%), telecommunications (33.36%), and basic consumption (12.54%).

Among the 47 listed companies, five entities represent 49.16% of the total market capitalization: Sonatel SN, Orange Côte d’Ivoire, Société Générale Côte d’Ivoire, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, and Coris Bank International Burkina Faso. This growth is attributed to a renewed interest in capital markets, including new IPOs, capital increases, and increased participation from both institutional and individual investors.
