Brwa Vahabpour film ‘Mio Zio Jens’ to release in Italy

The film ‘Mio Zio Jens’, the feature directorial debut of Kurdish-Norwegian director Brwa Vahabpour, is set for release in Italian cinemas on October 1 via Cineclub Internazionale Distribuzione.

The story follows Akam, a literature teacher living a quiet life in Oslo, whose routine is disrupted by the arrival of his uncle, Khdr, from the Iranian region of Kurdistan. What begins as a short visit evolves into a long-term living arrangement marked by domestic tension, comedic misunderstandings, and deep revelations.

Through the relationship between the two men, the film explores themes of migration, cultural identity, and the meaning of home. It examines the struggle of individuals living between different cultures and the role of language as both a source of power and a point of vulnerability.
