Bryan-Michael Cox questions impact of ‘Making The Band’ on Day26

Music producer Bryan-Michael Cox has suggested that the MTV reality series ‘Making The Band’ may have hindered the career growth of the R&B group Day26. Speaking at the Cousinz Festival 2026, Cox noted that while the show was responsible for the group's existence, it may have impacted their perceived credibility.

Cox expressed that if the group had been introduced to the public strictly as musical artists through Bad Boy rather than through reality television, they might have gained more immediate respect. He described the influence of MTV on the group as ‘a gift and a curse.’

Cox recently launched a new record label, Illustrate New Ideas, which includes Day26 among its first signees. He previously collaborated with the group on several hits, including ‘Imma Put It On Her’ and ‘So Good.’
