Bryan Ruiz advocates for Costa Rican national to lead Costa Rica team

Bryan Ruiz, the interim manager of the Costa Rica national football team, has stated that the federation should appoint a Costa Rican national as the next permanent head coach. Ruiz argued that the team currently requires a manager who understands the local players, the national idiosyncrasy, and the specific culture of the country.

Ruiz noted that previous foreign managers have faced difficulties adapting to the Costa Rican player. He cited the unsuccessful tenures of Miguel Herrera and Fernando Batista as examples of why a domestic coach might be better equipped to motivate the squad and identify player possibilities for different match situations.

Regarding his own future, Ruiz addressed the possibility of becoming the permanent manager. While he has ruled out staying with Alajuelense due to personal and professional demands, he left the possibility of remaining with the national team open.
