Bryan Ruiz appointed head coach of Costa Rica national team

The Costa Rican Football Federation (FCRF) has officially appointed 41-year-old former player Bryan Ruiz as the head coach of the men's national football team. The decision follows his successful stint as interim manager, during which he led the team to victories against Nicaragua and Haiti in the CONCACAF Nations League.

Ruiz, a legendary figure in Costa Rican football who participated in the 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups, will lead a project aimed at qualifying for the 2030 World Cup. His coaching staff will include assistants Wilmer López and Christian Bolaños, with Ariel González serving as video analyst.

The appointment follows the dismissal of former coach Fernando Batista. Ruiz's first official matches as head coach are scheduled for November, featuring international friendlies against Ecuador on November 13 and Argentina on November 17 in Córdoba.
