Bryant and UMass men's soccer play to 2-2 draw in season opener

The Bryant University men's soccer team and the University of Massachusetts (UMass) men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw in their respective season openers at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

UMass took an early lead in the first half through captain Shane Valez. Bryant responded in the 47th minute when Angel Perez scored on a header following a free kick from Fermin Rodriguez. UMass regained the lead in the 78th minute when Sebastian Weitlander scored a chip shot after a turnover in the Bryant defensive zone.

In the 85th minute, a VAR review resulted in a penalty kick for Bryant after a foul on Fernando Guerrero. Brady Geho converted the penalty to equalize the match. UMass goalkeeper Dean Linden recorded seven saves during the contest, while Bryant outshot UMass 18-7.
