Kyle Schwarber hits walk-off home run for Phillies comeback win
Kyle Schwarber hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-4 comeback victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park.
Trailing 4-0 entering the ninth, the Phillies staged a six-run rally. The comeback was fueled by an Edmundo Sosa three-run double with two outs, followed by a Bryan De La Cruz RBI single to tie the game. Schwarber then hit a 459-foot home run off Cardinals closer Riley O’Brien to secure the win.
The victory marks the Phillies' ninth consecutive win and their first walk-off home run in over three years. Schwarber’s blast was his 39th of the season, maintaining his lead as the major league home run leader. The win moves Philadelphia to 73-58 on the season, placing them within 2.5 games of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.
