Omoda vehicle catches fire during police inspection in Zdziary

During a routine traffic inspection in Zdziary near the S19 road, an Omoda vehicle caught fire, prompting an emergency response from Nisko police officers. The officers successfully evacuated the driver and passengers, including a 7-year-old child, before the vehicle was completely destroyed. No injuries were reported.

The incident has sparked public debate regarding the safety of electric and hybrid vehicles in underground parking garages. However, Dr. Szymon Piasecki from the Warsaw University of Technology stated that there is no justification for banning such vehicles from underground parking.

Separately, Polish authorities reported several other incidents involving intoxicated drivers. In one case, a 49-year-old man with over 2.7 per mille of alcohol in his system was detained in Stare Gumino. In another, a 33-year-old man was caught driving a Skoda without a license while under the influence of 1.5 per mille of alcohol in Morąg.
