BSF intercepts major gold and silver smuggling attempts at India-Bangladesh border

The Border Security Force (BSF) has intercepted two significant smuggling attempts along the India-Bangladesh border. In the Nadia district of West Bengal, the BSF 32nd Battalion seized over 11.28 kilograms of gold biscuits, valued at approximately 17.40 crore rupees. A Bangladeshi national was arrested during the operation near the Haldarpara border outpost. The seized gold and the suspect have been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) for further investigation into the smuggling syndicate.

In a separate incident in the North 24 Parganas district, authorities arrested three Bangladeshi nationals suspected of attempting to smuggle silver jewelry. During the confrontation, the suspects allegedly attacked a BSF personnel and attempted to seize his service rifle. Following the incident, the suspects were apprehended and presented before the Basirhat Sub-divisional Court, where they were remanded to police custody for seven days.
