BSF jawan arrested in Punjab for alleged murder of wife

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, identified as Amarjit Singh, has been arrested by Punjab Police for the alleged murder of his wife, Rama, in the Hoshiarpur district. Singh, who was on leave at the time, reportedly attempted to stage the death as an accident by claiming his wife had fallen from the roof of their home in Shekhamatta village.

The victim’s family raised suspicions after noticing multiple injury marks on her head and body upon her arrival at the Civil Hospital in Hajipur. In a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Ram Chand, it was alleged that Rama had been subjected to prolonged physical assault and harassment throughout her 12-year marriage, including pressure regarding parental property.

Police have registered a case against Singh and are investigating the circumstances of the death. Additionally, cases have been registered against Singh’s uncle, Kuldeep Kuki, and aunt, Sonia, who are currently reported to be at large.
