BSF kills two suspected Pakistani infiltrators in Punjab

The Border Security Force (BSF) killed two suspected Pakistani infiltrators near the Rajoke border outpost in the Tarn Taran sector of Punjab on October 2, 2026. According to officials, three individuals from the Chattanwala area attempted to cross into Indian territory late at night. After ignoring warnings from BSF personnel to stop, the suspects continued their advance, prompting security forces to open fire. Two individuals were killed, while a third fled back toward Pakistan.

Following the incident, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned India’s chargé d'affaires in Islamabad to lodge a formal protest. Pakistan claims the deceased were ordinary citizens who inadvertently crossed the border while wandering. Indian authorities are conducting search operations and investigations to determine if the individuals were involved in smuggling or terrorist activities.
