BSNL prepares for indigenous 5G rollout following 4G expansion

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is preparing to roll out indigenous 5G services following the steady performance and ongoing expansion of its 4G network across India. Vivek Dua, Principal General Manager at BSNL, stated that the company is moving toward next-generation connectivity as the current 4G footprint continues to grow.

To support this transition, BSNL is introducing several technological upgrades. The company has enhanced its 'Vani' chatbot, which is linked to core network infrastructure to allow subscribers to resolve connectivity issues and book complaints using voice conversations in regional languages. Additionally, the 'Bharat Sandesh' platform will facilitate two-way communication between citizens and government departments.

On the infrastructure and security front, BSNL has partnered with Saptang Labs to implement AI and machine learning for network security. The company also intends to collaborate with Fujitsu Japan to develop an All-Photonics Network utilizing existing dark fibre infrastructure.
