BSP leader Krum Zarkov backs Iliyana Yotov for Bulgarian presidency
BSP chairman Krum Zarkov announced that he, the party’s executive bureau and numerous BSP organisations have spontaneously endorsed Iliyana Yotov as a presidential candidate. Zarkov praised Yotov’s political experience and said the support will help her build a campaign committee and choose a suitable vice‑presidential partner.
He also addressed the dispute over the party’s historic building on Positano 20, stating that the property is state‑owned, that the BSP pays rent, and that the party will seek a solution that protects both state interests and the party’s functioning. Zarkov criticised the 2026 state budget, calling it an emergency budget and lamenting the removal of provisions on the minimum wage, urging the “Progressive Bulgaria” coalition to address the issue promptly. He noted that the BSP will operate as an extra‑parliamentary party this year, viewing the situation as a new opportunity.
