BT Tower redevelopment plans submitted for London hotel conversion

MCR Hotels has submitted a planning application to the London Borough of Camden to redevelop the iconic BT Tower into a hotel. The proposal, designed by Orms, includes the Grade II-listed tower and its surrounding structures, such as the Howland Building.

Key features of the redevelopment include the conversion of the complex into a hotel with ground-floor shops, bars, and restaurants. A rooftop swimming pool is planned for the top of the adjoining podium building, which will be accessible to the public. Additionally, the plans aim to reopen the upper floors of the 177-meter tower to the public for the first time in nearly 50 years.

MCR CEO Tyler Morse stated that the goal is to honor the landmark's history while revitalizing the Camden area with new jobs and open community spaces. The tower, originally opened in 1964 as the Post Office Tower, was once London's tallest building.
