Bátaszék interim mayoral election: Judit Béres wins
In the interim mayoral election in Bátaszék, independent candidate Judit Béres won with 60.24 percent of the vote, receiving 1,265 votes. The runner-up, Zoltán Zsikó, who is the chairman of the Tolna County Assembly and associated with Fidesz, received 25.1 percent of the votes. The election was held following the resignation of former mayor Róbert Bozsolik.
In the Hungarian Parliament, political tensions persist regarding fiscal policies. The Tisza Party argued for an increase in tobacco excise taxes, suggesting the resulting 90 billion forints could be used for healthcare purposes and to reduce the budget deficit. This sparked debate with Fidesz representatives regarding government tax policies and previous compensation measures for diesel prices.
