BTG Pactual acquires luxury hotels in Rio de Janeiro

BTG Pactual has announced the acquisition of three hotels in Rio de Janeiro from the American group Host Hotels & Resorts. The transaction includes the five-star JW Marriott in Copacabana, as well as the Ibis and Novotel hotels located in the Olympic Park region of Barra da Tijuca. While the bank will own 100% of the real estate, the existing management structures will remain in place: Renaissance will continue to operate the JW Marriott, and Accor will maintain administration of the Ibis and Novotel units.

This move follows a period of significant expansion for BTG Pactual in the Brazilian hospitality market. In 2024, the bank invested R$ 1.7 billion in 18 Accor-linked hotel buildings, including the Fairmont in Copacabana. In 2025, the group further expanded its Rio de Janeiro portfolio by acquiring the MGallery and Mama Shelter properties in Santa Teresa.
