BTG Pactual secures banking license to operate in Peru

BTG Pactual has received authorization from the Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP (SBS) to operate as a bank in Peru under the name Banco BTG Pactual Perú S. A. This regulatory milestone concludes a process that began in July 2025.

The new institution will launch with an initial capital of US$ 100 million. Its operations will focus on corporate clients, large companies, and institutional investors, offering services such as corporate banking, treasury, and investment banking. The bank will not target mass consumer retail, such as mortgage or vehicle loans.

BTG Pactual has maintained a presence in Peru for over 14 years, previously operating through investment banking, brokerage, and asset management. The new license allows the group to capture deposits and provide loans in both soles and dollars, strengthening its regional strategy alongside recent expansions in Uruguay and the United States.
