BTK President urges Huawei and Ericsson to integrate local production

Mehmet Koçyiğit, President of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), met with executives from Huawei and Ericsson to discuss the integration of domestic production into telecommunications solutions.

During meetings with Huawei Turkey CEO Tonny Bao and Ericsson Turkey General Manager Mehmet Oğul, Koçyiğit emphasized that developing local and national production capacity is a primary priority under the National Technology Initiative. He stated that while foreign investment is valued, the integration of products from domestic manufacturers into the solutions provided by global companies is essential.

Koçyiğit specifically noted that the expectation for Huawei to integrate local products into its solutions has been shared with operators as a condition for 5G licensing. The discussions with Ericsson also covered the company's activities in Turkey and the development of next-generation communication infrastructures.
